Microneedling: Worth the Glow!

Sports. We love the challenge of our bodies. Yet injuries are just a matter of time, whether leisure or professional. But fortunately we can harness our body’s own regenerative powers to heal us back into shape.

The idea of a skin treatment that produces tiny superficial pricks on your skin might not sound like your ideal beauty pamper session. However, Microneedling, also called “collagen induction therapy” provides results that are worth it. It treats fine lines, acne scars and improves your skin’s overall appearance – it delivers more visibly youthful, smooth and glowing skin. This treatment capitalizes on the natural healing power within our body in order to rejuvenate the skin by boosting the production of collagen. A Microneedling PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment uses the patient’s own plasma with growth factors which boosts your skin’s appearance naturally, without side effects. This procedure can help you achieve more vibrant and youthful looking skin even after just a single treatment.

Is Microneedling the Right Treatment Option for Me?

It’s important to note that despite the name, Microneedling doesn’t have to be a painful treatment. The aesthetician will apply a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort. If you are interested in improving your skin’s overall quality, tone and increasing firmness, Microneedling may be a treatment option for you. If you are experiencing any of the following skin damage, you could benefit from one of our Microneedling treatments:

  • Skin aging prematurely

  • Thinning skin

  • Sun damage

  • Wrinkles and/or fine lines

  • Age spots or dark areas on the skin

  • Rosacea

  • Acne, enlarged pores, or scaring

  • Stretch marks

What Areas Can Benefit from Microneedling?

Microneedling isn’t limited to just a facial treatment – you can firm and tone several areas on your body, including:

  • Face

  • Neck

  • Chest

  • Arms

  • Hands

  • Abdomen

  • Back

  • Legs

Worth the Glow!

Microneedling boosts the production of new collagen and elastin – both are powerful keys to a more youthful appearance. As we age, our collagen and elastin production decreases, so it’s important to boost it and encourage new production with a treatment such as Microneedling. You’ll begin to notice an improvement in skin immediately after your first treatment session, and continue to see improvements over the next several weeks as your skin’s production of collagen continues. After approximately 6 months’ post treatment, you will see the full benefits of your Microneedling treatments. The following have been reported as benefits of Microneedling treatments:

  • Microneedling uses your body’s abilities to heal itself naturally by using your own plasma.

  • There is little to no risk of adverse reactions due to using your own plasma vs. chemical products.

  • After Microneedling treatments, minimal down time is required. Most people can return to their regular lifestyle the same day or next.

  • Microneedling is non-invasive as compared to traditional surgery approaches.

  • Microneedling offers immediate improvement of the damaged skin.

What Will Happen During my Microneedling Procedure?

Prior to beginning treatment, your skin will be carefully evaluated and mapped in order to customize your treatment plan. The treatment will consist of gently using a microneedle on the skin. The microneedle increases the body’s ability to naturally produce new collagen by penetrating through the skin tissue and stimulating collagen regeneration. By using the patient’s own plasma, this procedure is able to rejuvenate collagen naturally. The microneedle allows for the patient’s plasma and any accompanying product to penetrate fully into the skin. This increases the body’s production of collagen and results in firmer skin with reduced hyperpigmentation. Topical pain management options are available, although the treatment is virtually pain free. Treatment sessions will last between 30 minutes to 1 hour in length and usually be spaced out about 4-6 weeks apart. Approximately 4-6 Microneedling treatments will be required to obtain optimal results.
